Which file types can I compare?
You can compare any documents in PDF, Powerpoint, or Word formats. You can even compare documents of different file types - e.g. compare a PDF with a Word document.
What’s the largest file size I can compare?
Each of your compared files can be as large as 50MB.
Who can use Document Comparison free of charge?
You can! This app is free to everyone.
How much does it cost to compare files?
Document Comparison is a free service available to anyone. If you don’t have a Datasite project, you can sign up for a free account.
Can I compare a password-protected file?
You’ll need to remove any password protection before comparing documents – and remember to re-protect both documents if necessary.
Do I need to install software to use the app?
The whole process is online, so you don’t need software.
What differences or changes does the app reveal?
You’ll instantly be able to identify:
You’ll see all these differences in a list. Click on any item in the list to jump to its location in the document.
Can I search for differences?
Yes, you can search the list of differences to check on any that you’re expecting to find.
Can I download the list of differences?
Just click on 'Download Comparison' to download all the changes and differences in a separate file.
Can I synchronize scrolling and zooming across both documents?
Simply toggle the sync button (to the right of each document title) to zoom and scroll both documents together.
Can I compare graphical files?
Not at the moment, but if you are interested, please let us know by clicking 'Want to compare images' in the footer, and leave a comment.
Does Datasite keep a copy of the files I compare?
For your convenience, Datasite stores a copy of both documents (and the comparison document if chosen) in the My Documents area. These files are personal to you; no other users can access them, and you can permanently delete them anytime.
